What is a rope chain?

The rope-link chain is not a series of flat links: small rings are assembled at an angle and wind in a spiral around the chain's axis. The result resembles a braided rope, with a texture that catches the light from every angle. Its undulating pattern recalls the twisted columns of Baroque architecture. A classic in jewelry, the rope chain became a hip-hop style staple in the 1980s, worn thick and prominently.

From 6 mm onward, the rope-link chain becomes a true statement piece, very popular in streetwear and hip-hop styles.

The rope chain is unisex. A fine women's rope chain, 2 to 3 mm wide, can be worn alone, with a small pendant, or layered with other necklaces. First ask yourself whether you will wear your twisted chain alone or with a pendant. Worn alone, the chain forms a U around the neck. With a pendant, its weight pulls it down and it takes a V shape.

Wearing a rope chain with a pendant

The rope-link chain is one of the best chains for wearing a pendant, medallion, or cross: its spiral structure is strong and does not twist. How to wear a twisted chain

Worn alone, the twisted chain is all you need thanks to its texture. It also layers very well with a Cuban chain or a Figaro chain of a different length: for example, a 50 cm rope chain with a 55 cm Cuban chain. Mixing a gold finish with a silver finish creates a more modern look.

Care

Remove your chain before showering, exercising, or swimming, and avoid contact with perfume and household products. To clean the rope-link chain, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth in the direction of the spiral. Store it flat or hanging to prevent knots.
